Strategic domains for innovation in Health
The PREI in Health and Life Sciences and Health identified four domains to be driven through the Bridges4Health project: Precision Medicine, Clinical Research, Biomedical Devices and Technologies, and Microbiome and Health. The coordination of regional stakeholders in these areas and the implementation of a joint strategy will enable the definition of investment priorities in innovation and industrial transition in the health sector.
Domains
Precision Medicine
This is an approach that adapts prevention, diagnosis, and treatment to the unique genetic and biomolecular characteristics of each patient. It is particularly important in areas such as oncology, infectious diseases, immune‑mediated diseases, rare diseases, neuroscience, and cardiovascular medicine. It delivers more effective treatments, while minimising adverse effects and maximising the efficient use of healthcare resources.
Clinical Research
Clinical research translates scientific knowledge into innovative solutions that impact healthcare. It is a dynamic end-to-end ecosystem that creates highly qualified jobs and attracts international investment. By ensuring the safety and effectiveness of new therapies and medical technologies, clinical research accelerates access to advanced solutions that can improve disease care, health systems' access, and the overall well-being of the population.
Biomedical Devices and Technologies
We accelerate solutions that prevent, diagnose, monitor, and treatment. We map the value chain, prioritize investment, and foster consortia connecting R&D, industry, and healthcare professionals to address clinical challenges and scale innovation.
Microbiome and Health
The microbiome stands out as a key driver of the transformation of human health. Its modulation fuels innovative therapeutic and nutritional solutions capable of revolutionising personalised and regenerative medicine, with a direct impact on disease prevention and the improvement of quality of life.
